Three things I was taught while on the Sydney Bridge Climb:
- “Let everything happen to you, Beauty and terror. Just keep going. No feeling is final” ― Rainer Maria Rilke
Is it slightly terrifying to be 134 metres above the Sydney Harbour? Yes. Do people look like little ants scurrying back? Yeah actually they do. Did it stop me from having the best time of my life? No. Because like the quote above says, beauty and terror.
2. “It’s all about the Climb” -Miley Cyrus
Sometimes you have to work for the things you want. Nothing worth value in life is handed to you on a silver platter with friendly directions. You have to work to climb to the top, you can’t turn away because it’s too hard. Push, persevere. “But these are the moments that I’m gonna remember most, yeah just gotta keep going'” -The Climb
3. Don’t be afraid to go by yourself. Don’t loose out on an opportunity because no one wants to join you. If there is one thing traveling has taught me it’s that the best adventures are the ones you take by yourself. You discover just how strong you are as an individual, everything you accomplish on the journey was because you had to depend on yourself to get there. You are strong. You don’t need back up, open your arms wide and embrace the strength that comes with solo explorations.
